Woman’s Kmart air fryer ‘bursts into flames’

A woman claims her Kmart air fryer burst into flames and set their home alight.

Lexi, from Queensland, claimed the three-year-old appliance was not being used and was not switched on when it suddenly caught fire last Thursday while her partner was at home.

He battled the flames and called triple-0 before leaving their home for his own safety.

“Thank goodness he made that decision every day because it’s not just the fire … that is dangerous,” she said on TikTok.

“It was less than a minute before he couldn’t see anything in the house and the floors are very slippery because of the ash.”

Their home, which they rent, is now too damaged to live in and they are staying with friends while they work out what to do next.

“We have no home now, and our stuff is damaged but he’s alive,” she said.

“If you have a fire, please leave the house quickly as the smoke was in his lungs after one (minute). Your life is irreplaceable!”

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A Kmart spokeswoman said: “The safety of our customers and team is our number one priority. We are taking this report extremely seriously and are looking into this customer’s experience with our quality team.

“We have reached out to this customer directly so that we can begin a proper investigation and offer our support.”
