Woman makes meal in Macca’s rampage
The star of a viral video who went on a violent rampage through a busy McDonald’s restaurant has admitted to her crimes.
On Friday, Nooria Halake, 19, pleaded guilty to three charges in relation to the incident in December 2022, which was filmed and uploaded to TikTok.
Halake appeared in court via an audio visual link on remand after being arrested on other charges.
Footage of the incident shows Halake hurling abuse at workers at the Hindley St McDonald’s at around 10.35pm on December 29.
She is seen in the video already behind the counter, threatening staff she would “beat you up and I’ll leave” before picking up a brown paper bag.
“Oh, what’s that? What’s in that?” she asks before throwing it to the ground and continuing through to the kitchen area.
She then heads towards the processing line, where she is seen to be preparing her own burger box before going to the fridge.
“Oh, what do I want?” she asks, and then takes a bottle of water.
She finishes her tantrum by picking something out of the McCafe display fridge.
Chris Pouras, for Halake, pleaded guilty to charges of disorderly or offensive behaviour, damaging property and assault on behalf of his client.
Court documents obtained by NCA NewsWire also revealed compensation of nearly $1500 would be sought for McDonald’s for goods damaged during the incident.
Halake’s assault followed that of 18-year-old Mia Miller’s attack on staff at the same location – an act which was also captured and posted to social media – with the restaurant later responding with new safety measures for workers.
The Hindley St location is surrounded by nightclubs and is known to attract large groups of intoxicated people on Friday and Saturday nights.
In March, SafeWork SA ordered the fast-food company to install safety screens in the store – which operates 24 hours a day – to prevent further “vile and abusive” incidents.
Shop, Distributive and Allied Employees Association (SDA) secretary Josh Peak welcomed the upgrade on Thursday, describing the McDonald’s on Hindley as “clearly the most unsafe establishment”.
“Customers were able to walk behind the counter unrestricted, products were thrown at workers, workers were spat on,” Mr Peak told reporters.
“We know the workers at the store now feel safer, because they are safer.”
Ms Halake will return to court in June.
