Will McDonald’s bring back Halloween buckets? Clues lead to Canada

Social media has been buzzing for weeks about when or if McDonald’s will bring back Halloween buckets this fall.

The fast food giant has declined requests to comment, but on Saturday McDonald’s Canada posted a video suggesting “Boo Buckets” will be available north of the border.

The video tells how to enter a contest before Oct. 8 to win four Book Buckets and other prizes.

The company also posted contest rules, which state that only Canadian citizens can enter.

Halloween buckets, also called Halloween Pails or Pumpkin Pails, were one of McDonald’s most popular promotions for the holiday, according to McDonald’s archivist Mike Bullington, quoted in a 2018 corporate article. They have been discontinued since 2016, according to several online sources.

McDonald’s is currently tapping into nostalgia with another promotion, a Cactus Plant Flea Market Boxes that went on sale Monday, Oct. 3. It is like a Happy Meal with collectible figurines, but is aimed at adults.
