Wild email from man rejected from job
The CEO of one of Australia’s most successful fashion empires has shared the “rudest email” the company has ever received after a candidate was rejected for a job.
Jane Lu, the founder of Showpo, the e-commerce company she started in her parent’s garage and which now sells to over 80 countries, appeared gobsmacked when she revealed how someone had responded to an email letting them know the positions had been filled.
Showpo had been hiring for casual warehouse positions and its recruitment team were responding to candidates that had not been successful.
“We were luckily able to the fill the positions very quickly, however, we do hire for these roles throughout the year so we hope you don’t mind if we keep your details and reach out when we have positions available,” the email read.
Ms Lu said they had “literally hired so many roles by going out to our existing talent pool”.
But one candidate wasn’t impressed by the request.
“I do not give permission to store my details if u don’t give me a chance the first time, delete immediately u c**ts,” said one candidate. “F**k you sincerely”.
Ms Lu couldn’t believe the response but said it didn’t end there.
Her talent manager politely responded and said: “Thanks for your response, not to worry your details have definitely been deleted.”
The rejected man responded with a thumbs up emoji leaving the multi-millionaire dollar CEO in disbelief.
But people on TikTok had a mixed response to the exchange.
“Red flag. It’s such a small world and this is so unprofessional. He’s probably going to brag on Reddit now,” wrote on woman.
“And he wonders why he can’t get a job,” said another. “Feel sorry for whoever eventually hires him,” responded Ms Lu.
“You dodged a bullet,” added one person.
But others questioned the way the situation was handled.
“Obviously what he did was wrong. But I also don’t think that (helps) including phases like ‘luckily we were able to fill this role quickly’,” said another. Ms Lu responded she would consider what he was suggesting but she didn’t think that was what “triggered” him.
“Whatever happened to confidentiality rule in HR?” added another.
