The City of Toronto’s Toronto Animal Services (TAS) has partnered with the TTC and Pet Valu to use the station for the next month to promote the benefits of adopting a pet.

TTC users will see cats, dogs, guinea pigs and rabbits featured on digital billboards, posters and vinyl wraps around the station until June 15.
“It’s an idea that came about a couple of years ago before the pandemic and now we decided is just a good time for it,” said Elana Trainoff, the TAS’ manager of partnerships.

“And TTC approached us. They had this great alignment with Pet Valu to help sponsor this type of campaign.”
All the pets featured in the campaign are cleverly named after TTC stations with bios to match.
Too bad they aren’t real.

“Those are fictional animals,” said Trainoff. “The way it works is the animals that are in the station, they’re representative of the kind of animals that we have, but because the campaign runs for a month, it would be hard to continually be updating that. The social media campaign that the TTC is running with us will have all of our actual adoptable animals featured that are currently in our shelters.”
Trainoff said there are 20 animals available at their three City of Toronto animal shelters in Scarborough, Etobicoke and North York.
The adoption fees are $75 for a cat, $185 for a male dog, and $215 for a female dog. All are spayed, neutered, microchipped and vaccinated.
