The Kebab Shop opens in South San Jose; next expansion site, Concord
The Kebab Shop, a fast-growing, fast-casual Mediterranean kebab chain, has opened its newest restaurant at South San Jose’s Almaden Ranch center and is planning its next for the East Bay.
A grand opening event is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 15, with free kebab wraps for the first 50 customers.
The family-run business serves Turkish-style doner kebabs — with a signature garlic yogurt sauce — in handheld wraps, boxes or plates. Customers pick a protein from a list that includes chicken or lamb/beef carved from the vertical rotisserie, grilled beef meatballs, saffron chicken or falafel.
The company started in downtown San Diego in 2007 and now operates 29 restaurants in California and Texas, with six more in development, including the first TKS for Florida. The Bay Area is home to seven, with the eighth opening soon on Concord Avenue in the city of Concord. Other East Bay shops are located in Walnut Creek, San Ramon, Pleasanton and Fremont.
“Following the amazing support we received from our first San Jose location” — that Brokaw location opened in 2019 — “we were determined to continue to grow in the area and are very grateful to get our ‘kebab on’ in Almaden Ranch,” Wally Sadat, chief marketing officer, said in the company’s announcement.
Saturday’s grand opening will run from noon to 3 p.m. at 5110 Cherry Ave.
