By India Today Web Desk: Former India opener Virender Sehwag has hit out at Australia’s hospitality in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup after cold food was served to Indian players after their training session. Sehwag took to social media to say that India are way ahead of most western countries when it comes to providing hospitality of the highest standards, slamming Australia’s organization of the tournament.

According to reports from ANI, the food offered to Team India was not good. They were just given sandwiches, and BCCI has told ICC that the food provided after the practice session in Sydney was cold and not good. Team India did not attend the practice sessions as they were offered a practice venue in Blacktown (in suburbs of Sydney). They refused because the venue is appropriately 45 minutes away from team’s hotel.
An unnamed BCCI official told PTI that a few players did pick up the fruits and falafel but they wanted to have a proper lunch and hence went back to the team hotel.
“It’s not like any boycott. Some players did pick up fruits and falafel but everyone wanted to have lunch and hence they had food going back to the hotel. The problem is that the ICC isn’t providing any hot food after lunch. In a bilateral series, the host association is in charge of catering, and they always provide hot Indian meals after a training session. But for ICC, the rule is the same for all countries. You can’t just have a cold sandwich (not even grilled) with avocado, tomato, and cucumber after two hours of training. That is plain and simple inadequate nourishment,” PTI reported.
After beating Pakistan by 4 wickets in a nail-biting finish, India are set to face the Netherlands on October 27.
