Preventing Your Windows Laptop from Turning On When You Open the Lid
Many laptops with the Windows operating system are programmed by default to turn on when you open the lid of the equipment. However, if you prefer to press the “power” button to turn it on, this can be uncomfortable. If you’ve tried to deactivate this function but couldn’t find the option, it may be because it’s not located among the normal configurations of your PC, but in a section of secret settings. Mag has provided a step-by-step guide to prevent your laptop from turning on when you lift the lid. Just remember to follow the procedure carefully to avoid altering the normal operation of your laptop.
Here are the steps:
1. Lift the lid of your laptop to turn it on, then turn it off manually.
2. Press the “Power” button, and immediately touch the “F2” key several times. This will grant you access to the hidden Windows settings.
3. With the directional or arrow keys, navigate to the tab called “Settings”.
4. Click on the section that says “Flip to boot”, and press the “Enter” key.
5. Two options will be displayed: “Enabled” and “Disabled”. Choose the last one and press the “Enter” key.
6. Finally, press the “F10” key to keep the changes. The PC will restart and will no longer turn on when you open the lid of the laptop.
This trick only works on computers with the Windows 10 operating system or higher versions.
