Simon Birmingham committed to government role despite Voice proposal issues
Political reporter Olivia Caisley shares that Simon Birmingham, despite concerns over the government’s Voice proposal, has no intention of moving to the backbench to campaign for it.
Birmingham has expressed hope that the ongoing committee process will address the controversial second clause allowing the Voice advisory body to consult with the executive government.
“Senator Birmingham shares his concerns and says he hopes that this committee process manages to alleviate concerns,” Ms Caisley said.
This comes after Liberal MP Julian Leeser resigns from the front bench to campaign for the yes vote while also pushing for changes to the proposal.
