By India Today Web Desk: Legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar has backed Team India to make a strong comeback after their disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup semi-final. In the match on Thursday, November 10 against Jos Buttler‘s England, India faced a 10-wicket defeat at the Adelaide Oval.

After being asked to chase down 169, the Three Lions got over the finish line with 24 balls to spare. Tendulkar said that the score of 168 was a below-par total at the venue, known for its short square boundaries.

“I know that the semi-final against England was very disappointing. Let us accept that we did not put up a good total on the board. 168 in Adelaide Oval is not great since the dimensions of the ground are entirely different and the side boundaries are really short. We were also unsuccessful in taking wickets. It was a tough game for us, a bad and disappointing defeat,” Tendulkar was quoted as saying to ANI.

Sachin, in the meantime, was also of the opinion that one shouldn’t forget the efforts India put in to become the No.1 T20I team in the world.

“To get to that Number 1 spot, it does not happen overnight. The team has to play good cricket over a period of time and it has done that. Let us not judge our team on the basis of this performance. Players also did not want to go out and fail. In sports, these ups and downs are there. We have to be in it together,” he added.

India topped their Super 12 Group with four wins out of five matches after beating Pakistan, Zimbabwe, Netherlands and Bangladesh.

After their World Cup, India are set to tour New Zealand and Bangladesh for bilateral ODI, T20I and Test series.
