Pip Edwards’ relationship admission

The co-founder of PE Nation has spoken about why she has struggled to show vulnerability in relationships after she was dragged into a public spat by her ex.

Pip Edwards was dragged into the headlines in January when her ex – former Australian cricket captain Michael Clarke – had an emotionally-charged carpark stoush with his girlfriend Jade Yarbrough that was recorded by a bystander and obtained by The Daily Telegraph.

In the footage, Yarbrough could be heard accusing Clarke of “f**king” Edwards, who he dated between mid-2020 and late-2021, “on December 17”.

At the time, the P.E. Nation co-founder distanced herself, saying: “This is not my circus. Yet again, Michael in his true nature has not taken responsibility for his actions and I was blatantly lied to.”

Now, in an interview with Mamamia’s No Filter podcast the mother-of-one said in business you have to be “masculine”.

She said between being a single mother and raising a son, running a business and a household, she has to be “masculine”.

Edwards said she is only now learning to be more “soft and vulnerable” but only in a place she feels safe.

She then added to have those feelings in a romantic sense, you also have to feel safe in order to express softness and vulnerability.

“And history would say I’m not sure if I’ve ever felt safe,” she said.

In a recent interview with Stellar, the 42-year-old revealed three years ago, when she attended a basketball game for her son, Justice, and found herself so overheated and overwhelmed that she ended up in tears.

After appointments with her doctors and tests of her egg supply, the mum-of-one was told she was in perimenopause – the transition phase into menopause that usually happens in a woman’s mid-40s, but that up to 12 per cent of Australian women experience prematurely.

Common symptoms include hot flushes, decreased fertility, irregular menstrual cycles, and trouble sleeping.
