N is for The Nanny: Fran Drescher releases kids’ book

Reese Witherspoon is the latest star to add the title “children’s book author” to her already impressive list of credentials.

Witherspoon took to her Instagram account to announce the upcoming launch of her first children’s book.

“Nashville friends, join me on October 7 to celebrate the launch of my first kids’ book, BUSY BETTY, at @TennesseePAC. It will be a fun night of conversation and family activities,” she wrote.

The actress previously said the book was inspired by her own childhood, as she was “always singing, dancing and exploring.”

But it took a long time for her to bring the book to life, telling PEOPLE she came up with the idea when her daughter Ava, now 22, was young.

“I’ve been thinking about creating a children’s book with realistic young female characters since I had my daughter,” she said.

“When I was a kid, I had a busy brain with a million ideas and more energy than most adults could manage, so Betty is really based on adventures from my childhood.”

Busy Betty tells the story of a little girl who wants to give her smelly dog Frank a bath before her friend Mae arrives.

“But giving Frank a bath is harder than she thought,” read the book description, “and just when everything seems impossible, with Mae’s help, Betty learns she can accomplish anything with perseverance, teamwork, and one great idea.”
