Mental health tech company and Google vendor each slash Bay Area jobs

MENLO PARK — Nearly 200 more tech-linked layoffs have emerged as revealed in new official filings by a digital health care services company and a firm that provides Google with recruiting and work schedule services.

Mindstrong Health is cutting jobs in Menlo Park. Separately, Adecco, whose tasks have included providing temporary help and permanent employment services to Google, is cutting positions in Mountain View.

The two companies are cutting a combined 192 jobs, according to separate WARN notices that Mindstrong Health and Adecco sent to the state Employment Development Department.

Mindstrong is cutting 128 jobs and is permanently closing its office at 101 Jefferson Street in Menlo Park, the WARN notice shows.

The company said its job cuts will begin on March 24 and are slated to continue until April 15.

Mindstrong created a mental health digital platform that uses tech to virtually deliver services to clients. The privately held company has raised $160 million in funding.

“The company employee terminations that will occur as a result of this action are expected to be permanent,” Mindstrong Health stated in the WARN notice. “The company headquarters will be closed in connection with this action.”

Adecco reported to the EDD that it was planning to cut 64 jobs in Mountain View.

“The layoffs were the result of Google making changes in how it is managing its recruiting and onsite scheduling workflows,” Terri Williams, an Adecco employment counselor, stated in the WARN letter.

The job cuts are slated to become effective on Friday of this week, the WARN notice showed. The Adecco employees involved were based at 1600 Amphitheater Park, Building 40, in Mountain View. That location is a short distance from the Googleplex headquarters campus.

“Adecco was notified by Google on Jan. 20, 2023 that the assignments of the 64 associates would be ending as of Feb. 2, 2023,” Adecco said in the letter to the EDD.
