This spring, McDonald’s is adding a new McFlurry flavor to their menu and it might just be their best ingredient combo yet, involving Oreo cookies and strawberries. The Strawberry Shortcake McFlurry has been available in Singapore year-round for a while now, but on April 3, it’s coming to the United States!

What Is a McFlurry?

A McFlurry is a flavored ice cream mixture sold at McDonald’s since 1998. It is made by combining their vanilla soft serve ice cream with different “add-ins” such as Oreo cookies, M&Ms candy and more.

The McFlurry is served with a special spoon with a hole in it that is attached to the blender when mixing.

The ice cream used in a McFlurry is the same vanilla soft serve McDonald’s uses for its cones and sundaes.

In 2016, they started to phase out all artificial flavors from their vanilla ice cream, trying to regain customers who had said the product didn’t taste as good.

What Is the Most Popular McFlurry Flavor?

While there have been many flavors of McFlurries over the years—including Twix, Rolo, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup, M&Ms, and even a seasonal Shamrock Shake—the #1 choice has always been the Oreo cookie McFlurry.

Mixing chocolate sandwich cookies with creamy vanilla soft serve makes for a cookies and cream treat people can’t get enough of.
