Man who entered Alameda High campus without permission charged with battery, child molestation
A man arrested last week after police said he walked onto the Alameda High campus and began harassing students has been charged with three misdemeanors in the incident, authorities said.
Alameda County prosecutors charged the 27-year-old with battery, child molestation and with carrying a razor blade on school grounds, according to court documents.
In a declaration of probable cause, Alameda police Ofcr. James Green said the man on Dec. 6 went onto the Alameda High campus, where he had no business.
According to Green, the man approached a 16-year-old girl and attempted to kiss her by trying to forcibly remove her face mask.
The man then went into a nearby classroom and grabbed a 15-year-old girl by her wrist. Green wrote. She pulled away from him and told her teacher, who then confronted the man.
The teacher followed the man as he tried to leave the high school, Green wrote. At one point, the suspect dropped a box cutter, and the teacher stepped on it to keep the man from getting it. He then continued to follow the man until they reached the Fruitvale BART station, Green wrote.
An Alameda police detective spotted the man in the 1100 block of Park Street the next day and arrested him on unrelated charges after having his identification confirmed, according to Green.
