Labor govt prepared to negotiate with the states on an ‘agreed decision’ on energy prices
Treasure Jim Chalmers says the Labor government has made it clear it is prepared to negotiate with the states in good faith to come to an “agreed decision” on the high and rising energy prices.
“Every Australian has an interest in a meaningful and effective and temporary response to these energy price hikes,” Mr Chalmers said at a press conference on Tuesday.
“We’ve made it clear that all options are on the table – we would prefer where possible a regulatory response here – but we’ve said we are prepared to consider other options as well.”
