Kourtney lashed for ‘disturbing’ photo of her ‘smoking’
Kourtney Kardashian Barker has left fans in shock after sharing a series of new photos that appear to show her puffing on a cigarette.
The reality star turned health mogul launched Poosh, a lifestyle brand dedicated to those living “clean”, in 2019, and has been vocal about her commitment to the cause.
She’s also the brains behind Lemme, a line of vitamins and botanical supplements, aimed at improving wellness with expensive ingredients.
However, she appears to have thrown caution to the wind after sharing a string of snaps with a ciggie pursed between her lips – despite stressing it was just a “prop”.
Smoking can have a dramatic effect on your health, with stats showing two thirds of long-term users can expect to have their life cut short by about 10 years according to the Department of Health.
It’s also the leading preventable cause of death and disease in Australia.
This is a point many of Kourtney’s 219 million followers have pointed out, calling out the mother-of-three for “promoting” such a dangerous habit.
“The wellness guru promoting smoking cigarettes? interesting,” one said.
“You preach about healthy living but yet you post pictures of yourself smoking a cigarette which is literally the worst thing for your body and the complete opposite of a healthy lifestyle,” another raged.
As one asked: “Why would you glamorise smoking?”
Others stressed she was setting a bad example to her younger followers and called for her to think twice before posing with a cigarette for a “cool” photo.
“Getting cancer is cool now kids,” one user remarked sarcastically.
“For someone so health conscious, seems like you’re promoting cigarettes, you’ve forgotten kids look up to you,’ another said.
“She’s promoting cigarettes, what a good example,” someone else agreed.
Some simply blasted the photos, labelling them “disgusting” and “disturbing to see”.
It’s not the first time Kourtney, who married rock musician Travis Barker last year, has copped criticism for appearing to smoke a cigarette – a point she noted in her caption.
“Bye bye blondie. one more smoking hot post for the haters. shoutout to my prop provider and photographer @kulikulikulik.”
Back in 2018, the TV star was slammed for “smoking a cigarette”, and later deleted the offending photograph from her socials.
In the images, Kourtney clutched a cigarette in her hand while wearing a black shirt that had the phrase “no smoking” written all over it.
The photos are in stark contrast to the wellness lifestyle she preaches, which includes a strict organic only diet that avoids, dairy, sugar and gluten.
Earlier this week, the Australian Government announced a crackdown on e-cigarettes.
Under current laws, vapes with nicotine can only be bought with a prescription from a chemist. But that hasn’t stopped thousands of convenience stores and online providers selling them – with kids as young as four reportedly smoking the product.
