‘I’ve Never Seen Them Go After A Man’: Pelosi Slams Calls For Feinstein To Resign As Sexist

Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi slammed calls urging California Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein to resign as sexist.

Speaking of Feinstein to reporters Wednesday, Pelosi stated, “She deserves the respect to get well and be back on duty. It’s interesting to me. I don’t know what political agendas are at work that are going after Sen. Feinstein in that way. Democratic Reps. Ro Khanna of California and Dean Phillips of Minnesota recently urged the long-serving California to resign her seat in the Senate following an extended leave of absence due to a shingles diagnosis. Feinstein, for her part, responded to those requests by suggesting the Senate appoint a temporary replacement for her on the Senate Judiciary Committee until she is able to return to Washington, D.C.. “I understand that my absence could delay the important work of the Judiciary Committee, so I’ve asked Leader Schumer to ask the Senate to allow another Democratic senator to temporarily serve until I’m able to resume my committee work,” she stated in a press release April 12. 

“I intend to return as soon as possible once my medical team advises that it’s safe for me to travel. In the meantime, I remain committed to the job and will continue to work from home in San Francisco,” Feinstein continued. 

Feinstein has announced that she has no plans to run for re-election in 2024.
