I Tried Starbucks’ ‘Secret Menu’ Lavender Haze Latte, and Let’s Just Say, I’m in a Love Spiral—Here’s How to Order It

The not-so-secret menu item is *almost* as good as the song itself.

Attention Starbucks lovers (and Taylor Swift fans): The second most streamed song on T-Swift’s new album has inspired a surge of Swifties to head to their nearest Starbucks and demand the baristas whip up a ‘Lavender Haze,’ which is just as dreamy as her song.

Starbucks’ Lavender Haze drink joins the ranks of cocktails, mocktails and even cakes (with a lavender glaze!) inspired by the hit song and TikTokers are going wild. Just look at creator @alexiaencinas13’s TikTok on the icy purple drink.

What is the new purple drink at Starbucks?

The Lavender Haze drink isn’t a completely new menu item, but more of a resurrection from the summer of 2016. Remember the secret menu pink drink craze and the subsequent purple drink that followed? This is a slightly updated version of the purple drink—albeit way more fun because it’s connected to TS. This is different than the official (and now discontinued) Violet Drink, which used the berry refresher base as a main ingredient instead of the Passion tea. And this new iced tea latte isn’t an official collaboration with Taylor Swift, even though the coffee chain has done promos with her in the past.

What is in the Starbucks Lavender Haze drink?

This off-menu iced item is simple and straightforward—Passion tea, soy milk and vanilla syrup. There are already alternate versions cropping up online with different kinds of milk, different sweeteners and various fruit inclusions, depending on your preferences.

How to order the ‘Lavender Haze’ drink at Starbucks

To order this Tay-Tay-inspired iced tea latte, simply ask the barista for a venti Passion tea with soy milk and six pumps of vanilla. Pretty easy in comparison to other secret menu items, which can be so long they run the risk of trailing off the side of the cup.

Some ‘Tokers also note that taking out the water when ordering can affect the color as well. This is a great menu item to play around with as it’s totally customizable depending on your preference for sweetness and hue.

Another secret menu item similar to the Lavender Haze is the Lavender Dream tea which is a venti Passion tea with light soy milk, a scoop of blackberries and vanilla sweet cream cold foam with two pumps of honey blend syrup.

The Lavender Dream tea and the purple drink have one ingredient that Starbucks has now discontinued—their blackberry inclusions. If you want a scoop of fruit in your Lavender Haze drink, ask for the passionfruit inclusions (or blueberries if your barista is kind enough to swipe them from the oatmeal).

Is there a secret menu at Starbucks?

Starbucks’ secret menu items have been around for years now, much to the chagrin of baristas. Being prepared beforehand (or ordering on the app) will eliminate confusion and it saves time at the counter. The possibilities are endless, with recipes floating around the internet and social media. The Lavender Haze drink joins other secret menu items such as the Coconut Pie Frappuccino, Snickerdoodle Latte and the Red Starburst drink.

What does the Lavender Haze drink taste like?

If an iced drink could be comforting, it would definitely be this one. I took a bit of creative liberty when ordering mine. I went with the classic venti Passion tea with soy milk and vanilla, as instructed in @alexiaencinas13’s TikTok. But I also went with the vanilla sweet cream cold foam on top because why wouldn’t I

From the first sip, it was a creamy, dreamy, cool treat all the way to the very end where the ice cubes flirted with the last of the cold foam at the bottom of my cup. It’s reminiscent of a London Fog tea latte, which is a staple of Starbucks’ menu (and unlike the Lavender Haze drink, that one does have hints of lavender in it). It’s not too sweet—in fact, this drink is begging to be sipped on a rainy spring day (while listening to Taylor Swift, of course).

It has hints of vanilla and honey that mingle nicely with the slightly bitter brightness of the Passion tea. And the color will transport you into the swirly music video itself with its cloudy, purplish-grey streaks in the milky iced tea. I’ll be ordering this one again for sure. Taylor was right—I definitely wanna stay in the lavender haze.
