Viewers already had plenty of reasons to dislike the character, but it will be difficult for Meredith to get redemption following this week’s episode.

The latest installment, titled “Midwife Crisis,” revealed that Meredith’s affection for Jesse is pretty superficial. While Jesse immediately decided to abandon his burgeoning relationship with Sophie and his intentions to reconnect with his sister, Ellen (Tien Tran), to go on tour with Meredith, a flashback reveals that Meredith has lied in the past to avoid supporting Jesse’s career goals. It explains why Sid (Suraj Sharma) harbors negative feelings towards her, a resentment that viewers share. On top of it all, some viewers have a hard time believing that someone as disingenuous as Meredith could find success as a singer. “Meredith is the worst, but honestly … that woman is a pop star? Really?” wrote Reddit u/Frazzledsoul. Regardless of whether or not Jesse ends up with Sophie, he deserves to realize that Meredith isn’t the one for him.
