How Alexis Bledel Behaved On Gilmore Girls, According To David Sutcliffe – Looper
In an interview with “TODAY,” David Sutcliffe reflected on “Gilmore Girls” and, specifically, what it was like filming such unforgettable scenes with Alexis Bledel. Though things aren’t always sunshine and rainbows between their characters, the same can’t be said for the two actors.
“I loved the scenes with Rory because she was just such a delight to work with, and she was just so lovely and present, and just in playing that father-daughter dynamic was so meaningful,” said Sutcliffe.
He also explained how, from the beginning, he, Bledel, and Lauren Graham never had to work hard to bring their family scenes to life: “When I went to the first read-through, it was immediately apparent, the chemistry between Lauren, Alexis, and I. You could just feel that it was working, and there was a lot of life to it, so I knew that I was probably in for some kind of ride with these people on the show.”
Sutcliffe is one of many “Gilmore Girls” stars to praise the talent and personality of Bledel. In an interview for “The Gilmore Girls Companion,” Bledel’s late fictional grandfather Edward Herrmann compared her presence to Audrey Hepburn’s. As for Olivia Hack, who plays Rory’s Yale roommate Tana Schrick, she called attention to Bledel’s humble nature on Scott Patterson’s “I Am All In” podcast. She said, “I do remember her driving, like, the most beat to s*** car and really kind of loving that. Like, ‘Oh, you’re on Season 4 of a network TV show, and you’re driving this old sedan.’ I always think it’s cool when actors are low-key like that.”
