Famed SF crab and garlic noodles restaurant is moving locations
After 23 years on San Francisco’s Clement Street, Vietnamese seafood restaurant PPQ Dungeness Island is moving to a new home. But no need to worry: those famed garlic noodles and roasted crab are staying in the Richmond.
PPQ Dungeness Island finished its last day of service at 2332 Clement St. on Monday, the restaurant announced on Instagram. It is now in the process of moving to a new space just a few blocks away at 5821 Geary Blvd, which was formerly home to Ton Kiang (a popular dim sum restaurant that closed in 2020 after 42 years).
“We’ve been at Clement St. for almost 23 years and it’s been a great place since we’ve been there, but the building is getting kind of old,” co-owner Tin Chang told SFGATE. “We saw the opportunity to take over Ton Kiang on Geary … so when it finally became available we said, ‘Let’s go ahead and make the move, put in some fresh ideas and make the place look good.'”
PPQ’s tried-and-true menu will stay exactly the same, however — “the only thing that’s going to change is the look of the restaurant,” said Chang. Expect a more modern, updated atmosphere, but with the very same crab, lobster, garlic noodles and imperial rolls customers know and love.
Chang said that they plan to open the new Geary St. location on March 8.
“I’m very excited,” he said. “I hope everyone will come see the new location and will be happy with what we’ve done to the space … We will miss Clement St. very much but we are very much looking forward to having a new start on Geary and building a new tradition there.”
