Energy prices are a ‘dangerous place’ for the Albanese government: Clennell
Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says “energy prices are a dangerous place” for the Albanese government amid predictions power bills will increase by 35 per cent in 2023.
“It seems quite apparent that the federal government is going to have to intervene – perhaps to put measures in place so that gas companies reduce their prices domestically, or perhaps to even subsidise the extension of life of coal-fired power generators,” said Mr Clennell.
Mr Clennell said Alinta’s Chief Executive Jeff Dimery said: “next year the prices will be going up at least 35 per cent” based on current wholesale prices.
“That’s what government sources are expecting.”
