Couple’s budget wedding stuns
A bride and groom have amazed guests with their budget wedding, serving up an array of delicious dishes at their reception comprised solely of food bought from retailer Costco.
The couple from Taiwan said they spent just $1225 on the wedding buffet, Taiwan News reported.
The food at the outdoor reception featured baskets brimming with crostini, croissant sandwiches cutely wrapped and filled with ham, cheese and cucumber, grapes and tomatoes scattered for edible decor, plus fountains of sweet raspberry tea and lemonade, New York Post reports.
There was also a small vanilla frosted wedding cake, simply decorated with sprigs of fresh rosemary.
And while an average wedding in Australia costs $54,000, with reception costs making up a sizeable chunk of that, the Pinterest-perfect Taiwanese spread has been praised online for coming in at $1225. That’s a fraction of the average cost of wedding catering in Australia, where the average spend comes in at just under $10,000.
The savvy bride posted photos of the event to Facebook, pointing out how she brought the spread to life cheaply using everyday items such as bottles, jars and metal pails to serve up appetising bites like cakes, cookies and brownies.
Her post has reached more than 40,000 likes.
“Y’all did such an amazing job,” one commenter wrote on her post.
While many people visit the wholesale store for its bulk goods and cheap prices, couples around the world are pulling off their big day by getting everything from wedding cakes to floral arrangements from the wallet-friendly store.
The retailer also branched into jewellery sales before the pandemic, famously selling a $40,000 Tiffany engagement ring in 2019.
