Coles shopper exposes little-known Flybuys hack to save 8c a litre on fuel

A Coles shopper has shared a little-known Flybuys hack to save up to eight cents a litre on petrol, as the the cost-of-living crisis escalates.

Sharing on a popular Facebook page, the motorist revealed how her usual fuel fill-up now costs her much less.

“I know it’s not much, but just wanted to remind people that if you have, or if you download, the Car Sales app and click on your account, there is a barcode for Coles petrol 4c off per litre,” she wrote on the Markdown Addicts Australia Facebook page.

“So you scan that, and then your Flybuys card, and get a total of 8c off.

“Every bit counts these days… hope this helps.”

The woman saved more than $5 on her petrol – and, as she said, every little saving adds up.

‘That is awesome.’

Members of the Facebook group were blown away by the hack.

“That is awesome, thank you!” one person said.

“Thanks for the reminder,” another wrote.

People in the comment section also suggested other apps that have the 4c per litre discount, including the Linkt, Budget Direct, G’Day and AFL Footy apps.

Some people said you can even use more than one discount barcode at a time.

“I’ve done G’Day, Flybuys and the footy app and got 12c/litre off,” one person said.

One commenter took it one step further.

“I used to do this, and also spend $20 in store to get 10c off litre. Used to get $20 worth bread and milk etc.” she said.
