Cadbury recalls 6 popular chocolate items due to ‘serious’ health risk

The latest food recalls involve Cadbury and a variety of desserts made by the manufacturer Müller. The Food Standards Agency has issued a warning asking customers to return the chocolate products to the store for a refund, because of the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes.

Six Cadbury chocolate yoghurt products are being recalled. These items are the Daim, Dairy Milk Buttons, Dairy Milk Chunks, Crunchie and Flake and a six-pack of Cadbury Heroes Chocolate Desserts.

The FSA said: “The products listed above might be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

“Symptoms caused by this organism can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea.

“Some people are more vulnerable to listeria infections, including those over 65 years of age, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies less than one-month-old and people with weakened immune systems.”

According to the Food and Drug Administrator, Listeria monocytogenes is “rare but very serious”.

Four of the manufacturer’s goats cheeses are being pulled off shelves due to the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes.

he affected products are the Cricket St Thomas Capricorn Goat Cheese, Somerset Capricorn Goat Cheese and Somerset Capricorn Goat Cheese.

These products are sold in supermarkets Waitrose, Tesco and Morrisons, as well as the Co-op Goats Cheese, sold in Co-op.
