Brisbane father’s shock over CCTV footage of break-in: ‘Hard to sleep at night’

A Brisbane father whose car was stolen in a break-and-enter says it was “frightening” to see one of the thieves had a gun.

Zak Kelly’s Landcruiser was stolen on New Year’s Day when thieves rammed the $150,000 vehicle through his gate “like it was nothing”.

When the Ellen Grove resident studied his security camera footage of the incident, he was shocked to see a female thief with a gun.

“It’s hard to sleep at night now,” he told 7NEWS.

“I’m very concerned for public safety … I really hope no one approaches this woman.

“The fact she has a weapon is very daunting … very frightening. It’s not something you want to see in the public.”

Kelly, who has four kids, said it could have turned into a “bad story” if he had caught the thieves in the act.

The CCTV footage shows the thief with a gun acted as a lookout while two males scoured the premises.

She then drove the car through the gate, the footage shows, while the two others fled in a getaway car.

The thieves are yet to be caught.

“It’s very heart-wrenching. I’ve spent a lot of time and money on this car,” Kelly said.

“I just would like to see it back.”
