By India Today Web Desk: Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo said that Shakib Al Hasan is struggling with his shoulder a wee bit. In the first ODI on Sunday, December 4, Shakib was at his very best after he picked up a five-wicket haul and helped the Tigers bowl India out for 186 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
Domingo said that the Magura-born Shakib was a tad reluctant to put a lot of revs on the ball keeping in mind his shoulder.
“I know he is struggling a little bit with his shoulder. Maybe not trying to spin the ball much as he has done in the past. He is playing so many T20s where he is just trying to bowl straight at the stumps,” Domingo was quoted as saying.
Shakib started his spell by dismissing Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the same over. Thereafter, he got the wickets of Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar to finish with figures of 10-2-36-5.
“I thought his change of pace, angles and shape on the ball was fantastic in the last game. Behind Tendulkar, he has the second most Man-of-the-Match awards, so you always know that he will put in a performance at some stage,” he added.
Later, when the Tigers were chasing 187, Shakib scored 29 runs off 38 balls with the help of three fours before a brilliant catch from Virat Kohli inside the circle sent him packing.
The second game of the three-match series is set to take place on Wednesday, December 7 in Dhaka.
