By India Today Web Desk: Wales captain Gareth Bale has confirmed he’ll wear the ‘One Love’ armband at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Bale said the team will try to shed light on the problems that are going on in Qatar.

Speaking just days ahead of the FIFA World Cup, Bale said the team will try to shed light on the problems that are going on in Qatar.

“I think us as footballers, it’s been a difficult subject to talk about. We can shed a light on the I guess problems that there are going on. We’ve spoken to the FAW (Football Association of Wales), and they’ve been speaking to the Welsh government, who’ve been speaking to Qatar and FIFA, working on these issues, and yeah for us as players we’re fully behind and support everything we can do,” said Bale.

The Welsh forward said footballers can spread awareness but its up to the people higher up to make decisions for the better, adding that they’ll do what they can to get change in the correct way.

“Obviously, I think us as footballers, the most we can do is make awareness and it’s for people higher up to make those decisions, and hopefully make the change for the better, but yeah we support everything. In terms of the armband, we’ll be supporting everything and doing as much as we can to hopefully get change in the right way,” Bale added.

Wales midfielder and senior player Aaron Ramsey said the Welsh team disagrees with a lot of things going on in Qatar.

“Obviously, we disagree with a lot of things going on over there, and as an organization we’ve made our stance very clear on that, and the FAW have been working very closely with the government and FIFA, to try and you know move things forward, but yeah for us as players we’re going to be wearing their armband and showing our support, and you know hopefully highlighting a few other issues over there as well, but ultimately as well we’re there to play football and to represent our country at a World Cup,” said Ramsey.

Wales have been grouped with England, Iran and the USA. They will take on USA in their World Cup opener on November 22.
