Troy Cooley set to be India women’s team bowling coach for England & Australia series | Cricket News – Times of India

MUMBAI: Australia’s Troy Cooley will be the bowling coach of the Indian women’s team for the upcoming series against England and Australia at home, TOI has learnt.
This will be the first series India will play under their new head coach, former domestic stalwart Amol Muzumdar. “Troy has joined the team today in Mumbai,” a reliable source told this paper.
The T20I series against England is scheduled from December 6 to 10, followed by a solitary Test match starting from December 14.
The Test match against Australia is set to begin from December 21 onwards. All the matches will be played across two venues in Mumbai – namely Wankhede Stadium and DY Patil Stadium.
Since 2021, the 57-year-old Cooley has been the fast bowling coach at the BCCI‘s National Cricket Academy in Bangalore.
He was the bowling coach of the Indian women’s team in the T20 World Cup in South Africa in February.
He was the Rest of India team’s bowling coach in the Irani Cup clash against Saurashtra in October, and had accompanied the India A tour on its tour of Bangladesh last year.
A former pace bowler for Tasmania in first-class cricket (54 wickets in 33 First-Class games from 1985-86 to 1995-96), Cooley made a reputation for himself as a noted fast bowling coach after retirement.
Meanwhile, it’s learnt that former domestic warhorse Sitanshu Kotak will coach India A during their upcoming tour of South Africa, while former India all-rounder Hrishikesh Kanitkar will be the head coach of the India U-19 side in the Asia Cup in Dubai, which will kick off on December 8.
Ex-India leg-spinner Sairaj Bahutule will be the bowling coach of the side.
