Although Walter White’s mother is mentioned multiple times throughout “Breaking Bad,” she never makes an actual appearance — something fans on Reddit are still upset about to this day.
“Just imagine her reaction and emotions when she finds out her son not only had lung cancer and was never told about it by him, but also her son being a ruthless drug kingpin who is wanted for several serious crimes,” said KaetzTheMemelord in a thread about how sorry they’d feel for Walt’s mother. ” “Definitely going to be a shock. She, Junior and Jesse’s parents should start a support group,” replied Comedywriter1.
Walt’s mother is brought up on numerous occasions throughout the series. The first time is in Season 1 when Skylar White (Anna Gunn) asks Walt to call his mother about his diagnosis, and twice in Season 2 when Walt lies to Skylar about visiting his mother for four days — only for Skylar to catch him in the lie when she calls Walt’s mother directly. Later she’s mentioned in an anecdote about Walt’s father in the Season 4 episode “Salud.” It’s unclear exactly why Walt’s mother never appeared in “Breaking Bad.” Still, considering the massive impact of some other minor characters in the series (as well as her numerous references from Walt and Skylar), she probably should have made an appearance at some point — even if it was only to give Walt a guilty conscience for a while.
