Sisodia writes letter to LG Saxena; seeks for more attention towards rising crime rate in capital

Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia on Sunday wrote a letter to Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena seeking his attention towards the rising crime rate in the national capital.

The letter came a few hours after he was summoned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the liquor policy. “It feels like Delhi has now become the crime capital,” Sisodia letter read.

Earlier this month Sisodia wrote to L-G demanding a CBI probe into the alleged Rs 6,000 crore scam in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). He had also called out Governor for “interfering” in the Delhi government’s work.

In his recent letter, Sisodia cited the recent murder of Delhi’s youth and said, “I want to draw your attention towards the worsening law and order in Delhi.”

He said, the culprits fled the scene and police have only been giving assurances of timely action to the family.

“At this time, what must his family be going through? The way the murders have been increasing this month in Delhi, one after the other, it breaks my heart,” Sisodia said.

“Criminals have no fear of the law. The Constitution has given you the responsibility of upholding law and order in Delhi. The Delhi Police reports to you directly. I request you to please pay some attention to this too,”

He also listed a few more crimes that happened in the past months.

Currently, Sisodia is under CBI radar in Excise Liquor policy scam and he will be appearing for the same before at the federal agency’s headquarters on Monday.

The party said it is a ploy to arrest him because the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) wants to prevent him from campaigning for the party in poll-bound Gujarat.

To which BJP has accused AAP of doing “pressure politics” and alleges Sisodia was more of a “corrupt collection agent” of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal than Deputy Chief Minister.
