Qld pub cracks down on dress code ‘standards’

A popular Queensland hotel has warned its patrons to lift their dress standards, threatening “no effort, no entry”.

A new dress code at the usually laid-back Beach House Hotel in Hervey Bay has divided patrons after it was announced on Facebook earlier this week.

“We require a neat, fashionable but casual style of dress at all times in the venue,” the post read. “The hotel policy is enforced for the enjoyment and safety of all our patron.”

But it’s after 8pm that the dress code really steps up.

“We do require a higher standard of dress (EFFORT) after these times or ENTRY will not be granted,” the post continues.

Workwear of any kind, including steal-capped boots is out. As are singlets or tank tops, thongs, slides, tracksuits and fleeced hoodies.

Lingerie worn as outerwear is also frowned upon.

The Beach House Hotel overlooks the pristine waters of Hervey Bay and Scarness Park and Jetty and has live entertainment, bars, bistro and gaming rooms.

Management at the Beach House Hotel were contacted but declined to comment.

Many patrons were not impressed and took to social media to complain about the dress code.

One said they had just moved from Melbourne and the coastal pub was “more strict than most venues down here”.

Another warned they were planning to hold their birthday celebration at the pub but these rules “might mean they go elsewhere”.

Another quipped that if the dress code was stepping up, they expected the entertainment and service would improve too.

Others were confused. “Does that include boob tubes, strapless tops, dresses???” one person asked. “I mean, if I can’t wear a singlet?”

Another urged security to be “be consistent”. “Currently it’s a joke”.

The dress code comes after an OnlyFans star said she was kicked out of the Stradbroke Island Beach Hotel earlier this year for wearing beach attire.

During a trip to North Stradbroke Island, in Moreton Bay near Brisbane, Naomi Tibbles, 28, said she had just finished a long walk and was lusting for a cold drink when she stopped by the hotel.

But after 20 minutes at the bar Naomi claims security guards approached asking if she had any clothing to “cover herself” as she was in a “family establishment”.

“I said, ‘No, I don’t actually because I’m on a f***ing island and I was just at the beach,’” she said in the TikTok.

Baffled by the incident, Naomi then showed off the outfit in question – a bikini, crocheted pants, black sandals and a hat.

She explained she was enjoying a “mental health day” on the popular island when things took the unexpected turn. She described the alleged incident as “rude”, “embarrassing” and “gross”.
