Professional cleaner on the $2 item she ‘can’t live without’

A professional cleaner has dished on the “cheap and cheerful” cleaning product she could never live without — and it only costs $2.

Kacie Stephens, who runs the Melbourne-based cleaning service The Big Cleaning Co, posted a video on her TikTok account sharing her latest tip that everyday Aussies can do to boost their cleaning game.

“Here’s a versatile cleaning tool that costs around $2,” she said in the video, which received more than 138,000 views on TikTok.

“It’s nothing fancy — it’s just a dish brush.

“I fill a little tub with For All and water, and I can scrub so many different surfaces with this, especially anything that has some dirt build-up or any cracks or crevices. It gets in there better than a cloth.”

For All is an Australian cleaning brand that Stephens swears by — and the results with the product, mixed with water and scrubbed with a dish brush, speak for themselves.

Stephens’ “cheap and cheerful” cleaning tool is something she says she “can’t live without”.

“That round brush covers more surface area (so more efficient cleaning),” she said later in the comments.

You can buy a brush like this from Coles for just $1.75.

Woolworths has a similar brush for $4, while at Kmart you can get a 2-in-1 dish brush, with both a brush and a scourer on the end, for $4.50.

Stop using this viral TikTok hack

Stephens often shares cleaning hacks, tips and tricks on her TikTok account, but recently, she issued a warning against a viral two-ingredient hack to clean your sink.

The viral cleaning method has been doing the rounds on TikTok for years – with many “cleaning influencers” around the world swearing by the hack in videos racking up millions of views.

However, Stephens warned the ”old wives tale” of mixing vinegar and bi-carb soda to clean clogged drains can actually do more harm than good.

“Hear me out,” she captioned her video.

“Using vinegar and bi-carb soda to unblock your drains is reckless.

“You risk creating more of a blockage.”

Stephens said many people are guilty of using the vinegar and bi-carb soda combo to clean out their drains, particularly if there is a large oil build-up.

She said you’re “better off” putting hot water and dishwashing detergent down the drain to get the “oil moving”.
