‘Party PM’ is coming to Australia

Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin is on her way Down Under.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese confirmed the popular world leader would be delivering deliver a speech at the Lowy Institute accompanied by a business delegation.

The 37-year-old — Finland’s youngest leader in history — caused a stir in recent months after videos of her partying were leaked on social media.

Her wild antics led to calls for her to take a drug test – which she duly did and tested negative for any narcotics.

And in 2021, Ms Marin was forced to apologise for going out clubbing until 4am after coming into contact with a Covid case.

The Prime Minister went out to dinner and drinks just hours after her Foreign Minister had tested positive, having initially been told she did not need to isolate as she had been fully vaccinated – but later missing a text that advised her to do so.

Ms Marin has also been an outspoken voice against Russian President Vladimir Putin since the invasion of Ukraine in February.

She had led the charge, along with Sweden’s leader Magdalena Andersson, for their two historically neutral nations to join NATO.

“I look forward to welcoming Prime Minister Marin to Australia on Friday,” Mr Albanese said this week.

“Although a world apart geographically, Australia and Finland are united by shared values and a strong desire to uphold the international rules-based order.

“Australians and Finns have a mutual appreciation for fostering sustainable growth, investing in clean energy and resilient supply chains and social and political stability.”
