When a company announces a recall of one or more of its products, it’s important to get the details of the notice out to the public as quickly as possible. This season has already turned out to be quite the eventful one in terms of recalls, with everything from dog food to pressure cookers making the list of products in need of some extra attention from the powers that be.

Most recently, over 5,000-pounds of ground beef have been announced in a recall spanning across eight states due to the possibility of contamination from a foreign object. According to a notice from the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), the ground beef in question was produced and packaged on August 19, 2023 and shipped to institutions in eight different states: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont and Wisconsin.
It was noted by the FSIS that the recall was sparked by a customer report of finding an unspecified foreign object during their food preparation. And although there have been no confirmed reports of negative reactions connected to the ground beef in question, the FSIS is still wary about the potential dangers of some meat that is still sitting in many consumers’ freezers.

The recall is applied specifically to the 20-pound carton boxes containing four packages of “Skyline Provisions, Inc. Ground Beef 81/19” with “Item # 000248” printed on the label, as well as the 20-pound carton boxes containing four packages of “Skyline Provisions, Inc. Ground Beef 75/25” with “Item # 000293” printed on the label. Each carton will also feature the establishment number “EST. 19300” inside the USDA mark of inspection, and examples of such labeling can be found here.
Those who may be concerned about an injury or illness due to the consumption of the ground beef in question are encouraged to contact their local healthcare provider. Additionally, the FSIS recommends throwing away any and all of the affected beef, or returning its place of purchase.
