Man and baby injured when mother allegedly drove car into pair

A man carrying his infant son has been allegedly rammed by a car driven by his partner in a domestic violence attack on the Central Coast.

The 10-month-old boy suffered head and facial injuries while the father was also injured. The mother was later charged with a string of offences.

The 36-year-old man and 42-year-old woman became involved in an argument at an Anzac Rd house in Long Jetty at 11pm on Tuesday, NSW Police confirmed.

“The man (then) left the location on foot with the couple’s 10-month-old child,” police said.

“It is alleged the woman then drove a car towards the man, who was carrying the child, hitting them both.”

“The man was treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to Wyong Hospital in a stable condition.”

The woman took her son to The Entrance Police Station where paramedics treated his head and facial injuries, before the boy was taken to Gosford Hospital in a stable condition, police said.

The woman was also taken to Gosford Hospital for mandatory testing, and then taken to Gosford Police Station where she was charged with six offences.

She was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and driving in a dangerous manner, driving recklessly or furiously at a high speed or in a dangerous manner, and failure to stop and assist after impact causing injury.

She was also charged with common assault (DV) and two counts of driving during a disqualification period.

The Central Coast woman was granted conditional bail and will appear before Wyong Local Court on March 2, 2023.
