‘Laguna Beach’ Cast: Where Are They Now?

Coming clean. One year after the success of Fox’s The O.C., MTV took a look at the actual town, launching Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County in 2004. The reality show focused on the personal lives of then-high schoolers Stephen Colletti, Lauren Conrad, Kristin Cavallari, Lo Bosworth and more.

Conrad led the first season as the narrator, as the main story line focused on a love triangle she found herself in with Cavallari and Colletti. Season 2, after Conrad went away to college, Cavallari took over as the narrator. When her season ended, a new group was introduced. Meanwhile, the show landed its first spinoff, The Hills, following Conrad and her best friend, Heidi Montag, as they took on life in Los Angeles and tried to make it in the city of dreams By the end of season 4, Hills cast member Whitney Port landed her own spinoff, The City, following her fashion career to New York City.

Laguna Beach was originally set to be a high school drama but was not allowed to film inside the actual high school, meaning that it was completely shifted to focus on the cast’s home life. “Two days after [casting], it was the Super Bowl when Janet Jackson’s boob revealed herself, thanks to a wardrobe malfunction and Justin Timberlake. That was an MTV produced halftime show. So they had to take the fall for everything that happened,” Colletti explained to Us Weekly exclusively in March. “After that happened, the school board got together and they’re like, ‘No, no no, this is not happening. MTV, you’re off campus.'”

After season 3 of Laguna Beach fell flat without its original cast, the producers searched for a new town and launched a new spinoff, Newport Harbor: The Real Orange County. Unfortunately, it only lasted 12 episodes.

Luckily, MTV had found a hit with The Hills, which aired for six seasons from 2006 to 2010. Midway through season 5, Conrad decided to leave the show and Cavallari came in, taking over as the lead — much like she did on Laguna Beach. However, after the series ended, many of the cast spoke out about how scripted the reality show had become. In fact, the series finale played into that, as the last scene ended with the backdrop of the Hollywood sign moving, revealing to be a set.

In 2019, The Hills: New Beginnings launched on MTV with many of the original cast members from The Hills. Nor Cavallari or Conrad were part of the series.

So, who’s still in touch today? Well, many have moved away from reality TV — but some are still in the same area.

“I still talk to a lot of people. The guys that were on the show, Dieter [Schmitz] and Trey [Phillips] specifically, we’re still very close friends,” Colletti said. “Conrad and I, we’re usually down there around the Fourth of July and she’ll host people. She does a great job hosting. Shocker!”

After starring on The Hills, Conrad focused on her fashion career, launching fashion lines LC Lauren Conrad and Paper Crown. She has published nine books.

The Little Market cofounder married William Tell in 2014. They share two children: sons Liam and Charlie, born in 2017 and 2019, respectively.

Cavallari appeared on The Hills and dabbled in acting and hosting after the reality show wrapped. She married Jay Cutler in 2013 and the pair welcomed three children: sons Camden and Jaxon and daughter Saylor.

In April 2020, the pair announced their split. The Very Cavallari alum currently runs her own business, fashion and lifestyle brand Uncommon James and has written multiple books, including 2020’s True Comfort. In 2022, the Balancing in High Heels author reunited with Colletti to cohost their “Laguna Beach: Back to the Beach” podcast.

Colletti focused on acting after Laguna Beach, landing a role in One Tree Hill from 2007 to 2012. He since starred in Lifetime Channel’s Hometown Christmas. In 2018, he wrote, produced and costarred in Everyone is Doing Great with James Lafferty. The series was picked up by Hulu in 2021. He started cohosting the “Laguna Beach: Back to the Beach” podcast with Cavallari in 2022.

The California native confirmed his romance with NASCAR reporter Alex Weaver in August 2022.

Wahler went on to appear on The Hills after Laguna Beach ended, then took a break from reality TV to focus on himself and getting healthy and sober. He later appeared on The Hills: New Beginnings, which ran from 2019 to 2021.

In 2013, Wahler married Ashley Slack. The couple welcomed daughter Delilah in 2017 and son Wyatt in 2021.

Schmitz lives in Washington, D.C. and works as an area general manager for Lore Group, helping to design hotels. He got married to wife Isabell in 2016 and former costars Colletti, Phillips and Loren Polster served as groomsmen.

The former reality star shares son Nico with his wife, whom they welcomed in September 2018. The couple announced in October 2022 that they are expecting a baby girl.

Phillips keeps a low profile since the show, as his social media accounts are private. He works as a designer for Vera Wang.

Bosworth is the founder of Love Wellness, a line of personal care products for women. She also attended the French Culinary Institute and lives in New York.

Torriero works in digital marketing and is an actor. He is married with two kids, and they live in Nebraska.

“I’m loving my life,” the former MTV star exclusively told Us in November 2022, while reflecting on his marriage to Danielle Torriero and their son Bronson and daughter Hudson.

Cavallari’s former BFF is living in Texas with her husband and four children. She runs an Amazon store and a lifestyle website.

Schuller is married with two children and working as a certified nutritionist and barre instructor in Laguna Beach. As of April 2020, she was pregnant with her third child.

Smith is the founder of Minnow Swimwear, a bathing suit line that recently teamed up with J.Crew. She lives in Laguna Beach with her husband and two children.

“Alex M” married Kyle Johnson in 2014. They share two children. She is the cofounder of Mox, a consulting agency, and still lives in Orange County.

Reinhardt got married to Sean Brown in 2016 and they share two children. She owns her own bakery, Casey’s Cupcakes, with locations in Riverside, California, and in Laguna Beach. She won an episode of Cupcake Wars in 2011.

Cole is a photographer and a holistic nutritionist. She has two children and still lives in Orange County. She served as a bridesmaid in Murrell’s 2014 wedding.

“Alex H,” whose real name is Lauren, is married with two children. She also served as a bridesmaid in Murrell’s wedding.
