There were surely plenty of fans who had not yet considered Lady Gaga to be anything more than a musician. Those fans must have been surprised to hear that she was cast as a main character for the fifth chapter of the “American Horror Story” series. For Gaga, despite her minuscule acting résumé at the time, the star didn’t find it difficult to actually land the role. Gaga said that she decided to reach out to Director/Writer Ryan Murphy about being part of the show. “I called him and I said, ‘Ryan, I wanna be on Horror Story,'” she revealed. “And he goes, ‘Okay.’ And that was it.”
Flash forward to the first day of shooting and Gaga had a much less confident reaction to the upcoming gig. “I threw up on the way to set,” she told ET. “In a Ziploc bag. In my Rolls-Royce.” She continued the story, explaining that for some reason, she decided to hang onto the vomit-filled bag and brought it to her new director, Murphy. But, if her intention was to derail her own acting job before it got started, it was not successful. She explained his reaction, saying, “He was like, ‘Oh you think you can disgust me? You cant!'”
When was all said and done, and Gaga was on the other side of her stint on “American Horror Story,” her career was never the same. She made a three-episode appearance on the following “American Horror Story” series, before eventually being nominated for an Oscar in the film, “A Star is Born.” Gaga followed that up with a solid performance playing Patrizia Reggiani in the movie “House of Gucci.”
