By India Today Web Desk: Kylina Mbappe denied the recent reports of him leaving Paris St. Germain in January, saying that he was surprised by the claims of his departure from the club.
“I never asked for my departure in January,” Mbappe said after PSG’s 1-0 victory over Olympique de Marseille in Ligue 1 on Sunday. “The information that came out on the day of the (Champions League match against Benfica), I did not understand it. I am not involved in this information neither directly nor indirectly.”
Recently, reports surfaced that the French international wanted to leave the club during the next transfer window owing to the way he is being used on the pitch. The 23-year-old’s name was also doing rounds with LaLiga champions Real Madrid.
“I was as shocked by this news as everyone else. People may think I’m involved, I’m not at all. I was taking a nap, my entourage was at my little brother’s game,” Mbappe said.
“We were stunned when we found out. Afterwards, we had to deal with it, we had a match to play. I just wanted to say that it’s completely false, I’m very happy here,” he added.
Meanwhile, the PSG football advisor Luis Campos last week said: “I’m always with Kylian Mbappe and he’s never told me anything about leaving in January. The president never told me anything about him leaving in January.
