Whether you have a big family or not, Thanksgiving can be a bit of a burden financially in terms of getting the ingredients you need for a traditional holiday meal. Besides the fact that grocery prices have been steadily increasing, shopping for a quality Thanksgiving dinner generally involves cutting some corners where necessary in order to stick within your set budget. And now that Thanksgiving is only a week away, the pressure is on to find what you need at a price point you can stomach.
Thankfully, some grocery chains are taking matters into their own hands and offering their customers a budget-friendly alternative this holiday season. Take Kroger for example. The long-standing national grocery chain is offering what they call a “Freshgiving for everyone,” featuring a full Thanksgiving feast on an easy $50 budget.

“This Thanksgiving, our goal is to help you create a memorable celebration without straining your budget,” Kroger announced on their website. The popular grocery chain is serving up a quality Thanksgiving meal that can serve up to 10 people and includes a variety of classic side dishes and a pie to top it all off. With the total investment coming out to be just $5 per serving, this is one meal that will absolutely provide the flavors you love about Thanksgiving without sacrificing quality.
So what can you expect to find included in Kroger’s “Freshgiving” feast? For starters, Kroger is cutting zero corners when it comes to the turkey, and this budget-friendly feast comes with a delicious 14-15 pound whole frozen turkey that has an accompanying Herb-Roasted Turkey with Pan Gravy recipe. For the most crucial part of the meal, Kroger is offering three different sides including that can be made into Fluffy Mashed Potatoes, Green Bean Casserole and a delicious looking Loaded Vegetable Stuffing.

If these sides aren’t exactly what you’re looking for, Kroger also offers recipes using their branded super sweet corn and baby carrots: Sautéed Sweet Corn and Simple Roasted Carrots — both of which are a fantastic way to get the young ones in the family to eat their veggies. In addition, the grocery chain’s easy 10 minute recipe for a Classic Cranberry Sauce just might be another perfect last-second addition to the already budget-friendly meal.
Saving the best part for last, Kroger’s “Freshgiving” would not be a success without a classic dessert to cap off the night, and the Pumpkin Pie topped with a dollop of velvety whipped cream is what Kroger is calling the “quintessential end to the holiday feast.” And to make things a little more fun, Kroger also offered up a sweet tip involving using a simple cookie cutter to turn your store-bought pumpkin pie into mini treats for your guests to enjoy.
Whichever way you slice it, Kroger is definitely taking the win this holiday season with this fantastic money saving meal.
