By India Today Web Desk: England skipper Jos Buttler said that he wasnt quite aware of what happened between Matthew Wade and Mark Wood in the dying stages of the opening T20I against Australia at Perth Stadium.

In the 17th over of Australia’s run-chase, when the match could have gone either way, Wade found himself in danger of getting out ‘obstructing the field’. Wade tried to hit Mark Wood out of the park, but could only manage to get a top edge.

However, it seemed as if Wade pulled out his hand to stop Wood from taking the catch. On the incident, Buttler said that he was asked if he wanted to appeal against the left-handed Wade.

“I was looking at the ball the whole time, so I wasn’t sure what happened. They asked if I wanted to appeal, but I thought we are here for a long time in Australia so would be a risky one to go for so early in the trip,” Buttler was quoted as saying after the match.

Buttler, however, said that he may not mind appealing if a similar incident happened during the World Cup. “Maybe, yeah,” he added.

As far as the match was concerned, England won it by eight runs to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Buttler, who made a comeback following his injury layoff, scored 68 runs off 32 balls in a 132-run opening partnership with Alex Hales.

Hales, in the meantime, got the Player of the Match award after he scored 84 runs off 51 balls with 12 fours and three sixes.

The second T20I is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, October 12 at Manuka Oval in Canberra.
