Jen Psaki Suggests ‘Disinformation’ To Blame For GOP Success Among Latinos

Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki appeared to suggest Tuesday that “disinformation” is the reason Republicans are doing well among Latino voters.

Psaki’s tweet comes just moments after Florida was called for Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is also reportedly up 8 points in Miami-Dade County which has typically trended blue.

“The Latino vote is not the same everywhere! There are huge generational differences and in Florida population of older voters (more likely Rs) much larger than younger. Socialism does not play there. And there is a massive disinformation problem in Spanish language media,” Psaki tweeted.

While it’s unclear what specific alleged “disinformation” Psaki was referring to, Bloomberg reported in April that “misinformation” has gripped Spanish radio stations in the state, with consultant Evelyn Perez-Verdia pointing to “misinformation about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine” and “continuous messages blaming Biden for higher gas prices and favoring White refugees over refugees of color.” (RELATED: MSNBC Hosts Audibly Gasped When They Saw The Early Vote Counts In Florida)

Law and political science professor Rick Hansen told Bloomberg that Spanish speakers are “vulnerable” to alleged disinformation because of language barriers.

DeSantis is up by 8 points in Miami-Dade with approximately 66% of the votes in. DeSantis lost Miami-Dade four years prior by 20 points. Sen. Marco Rubio is “outright leading” his challenger Val Demings in the county, MSNBC’s Steve Kornacki said.
