By India Today Web Desk: Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya said that he is looking forward to raising the standards as far as his fielding is concerned. The 29-year-old is dynamic in the outfield and has taken some spectacular catches.
However, the youngster from Gujarat said that he wants to get better with the help of his fielding coach. Hardik also talked about his high fitness standards, saying that it has helped him work more on his fielding.
“God has been kind, my fitness has gone up. So, I am able to spend a lot of time on my fielding as well. Yes, I was natural, but I wanted to be exceptional at fielding. I am able to spend some time with our fielding coach and take the more difficult catches,” Hardik was quoted as saying in a video, uploaded on BCCI’s official website.
“He said, ‘Hardik, I knew you used to dive around and stop the ball two metres from here as well’. My goal this year is to come and grab a catch which could be one of the best catches of my career,” Hardik added.
Hardik is currently in Australia where he is set to take part in the 2022 edition of the T20 World Cup on Australian soil.
Pandya has played three warm-up matches in which he has scored 46 runs, but hasn’t picked up a wicket. However, Hardik said that he is pretty happy with the approach he has shown while batting.
He also thanked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for giving players enough time to get used to the playing conditions before the Super 12 matches.
