FIFA World Cup 2022, What to expect from Day 6? England and USA clash in decisive meeting

England would look to strengthen their knockout berth when they take on USA in the FIFA World Cup Group B match. Other matches to look forward to on Friday are Wales vs Iran, Qatar v Senegal and Netherlands v Ecuador.

By India Today Web Desk: England flushed out a lot of lethargy to kick start their FIFA World Cup campaign on a perfect note, but this tournament is not going to get any easier for them going forward as they face a promising USA in their Group B match on Friday, November 25.

England scored six goals against Iran in their opening encounter but also conceded two goals earlier this week. Gareth Southgate’s England is considered favourites to top Group B as it was 2002 when USA defeated a European opponent last time at the World Cup. However, a lot has changed for both sides, having played a 1-1 draw during the 2010 edition.

While England, who already have three points, would look to strengthen their knockout berth, USA would aim to make a case after having played a 1-1 draw against Wales in their opening match. Another Group B side who is catching up with England is Wales, who are also hunting for a spot in the Round of 16.

England and USA will meet at the Al Bayt Stadium, Qatar, with the match starting at 12:30 am IST (November 26).

Other matches to look forward to on Friday are Wales vs Iran, Qatar v Senegal and Netherlands v Ecuador.

Gareth Bale’s late goal in the second half helped Wales to hold USA 1-1 in their opening match earlier this week. Wales will look to grab three points when they take on Iran at 3:30 pm IST (November 25). Meanwhile, for hosts Qatar, who were outclassed by Ecuador following the opening ceremony, Senegal are standing between them and their future in the tournament.

Senegal, too, were crushed in their opening match with a 0-2 defeat to the Netherlands. The Dutch side and Ecuador, who both had a perfect start in the tournament, will lock horns later in the day at 9:30 pm IST (November 25).
