By India Today Web Desk: Jude Bellingham became England’s second youngest goal scorer at an international tournament with his first-ever World Cup goal in their World Cup Group B opener against Iran on Monday.

England legend Michael Owen remains the youngest goal scorer for the Three Lions in any major international tournament. Bellingham is 19 years and 146 days old during England’s World Cup opener against Iran on November 21.

Meanwhile, England came up with a clinical performance in the first half of their opening FIFA World Cup 2022 match and took a 3-0 lead against Iran through goals from Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka and Raheem Sterling. Bukayo Saka added a fourth goal in the 67th minute to solidify England’s domination over Iran.

Bellingham headed in a cross from the left by Luke Shaw in the 35th minute, Saka found the top corner with a left-foot shot in the 43rd minute, and Sterling poked in a third from Harry Kane’s pass two minutes later.

Notably, Iran had a disastrous first half, forcing them to replace goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand, who suffered a head injury after colliding with teammate Hosseini Majid, resulting in 14 minutes of stoppage time.

Beiranvand collided with teammate Hosseini Majid while attempting to deal with a cross and spent several minutes on the turf receiving treatment. The 30-year-old was eventually allowed to continue playing despite blood seeping from his nose, but he was clearly in no condition to do so.
