‘Eating healthy has made me anger-free’: a vegetarian’s best restaurants

For weekend brunch, Locofama (9-13 Fuk Sau Lane, Sai Ying Pun. Tel: 2547 7668) is the place to go. A hidden neighbourhood restaurant in an alley, their “local, organic, slow living” motto makes it my comfort retreat.

With organic produce sourced from local farmers, everything tastes better when kindness is the sauce. My favourite is the spicy spinach quesadilla, a fusion of garlic, chilli, mixed cheese and black garlic cream sauce. I would take visitors to these two places.

Every night after yoga, I am tempted to get evening snacks at Hong Kong Traditional Food (Wing Lok House, 1-3A Lock Road, Tsim Sha Tsui. Tel: 2422 3898). Such classic street foods are everlasting. They remind us of home.

Nood Food (1/F, Lok Moon Mansion, 3-11 Wing Fung Street, Wan Chai. Tel: 2298 5310) is my favourite hideaway. The tranquillity, tatami decor and exclusive menu make this location the best among the branches. Reading and brunch there after yoga makes my morning perfect.

Overseas, I enjoy Herbivore (190 Middle Road, Fortune Centre, Singapore. Tel: +65 6333 1612). The vegetarian sashimi, chicken teriyaki, bento will delight any meat-free soul – and the texture, taste and presentation amaze even my meat-loving friends.

I also love the energy and atmosphere in the neighbourhood of the Heritage District. It is just a few steps away from the famous Guan Yin temple.

I also love Kafe (Jl. Hanoman 44b, Ubud, Indonesia. Tel: +62 811 1793 455) in Bali. It is a 10-minute walk from Yoga Barn. Alternating yoga sessions and Kafe meals are my favourite daily ritual in Bali. I cannot get enough of their exciting menu.

I fell in love with the Buddha bowl and tempeh in their bamboo tree house. Watching bikes and yogis pass by from the terrace is an indulgence. The crispy plant leaves sound like music when I bite down on them. Every mouthful pulses with love and respect for the land, the farmers and life.
