Vincent D’Onofiro’s comments make it sound like this upcoming series is going to build off of what came before in Netflix’s “Daredevil,” even if the two show’s turn out to be wildly different like he implied. Indeed, his talk of massive payoffs in the second season possibly points to some unanswered questions or unexplored stories from the original series finally being realized in this new project.
More than that, the indication that Marvel Studios mapped out a second season points to the big plans ahead for Daredevil within the MCU, which was already hinted at through his involvement in “Spider-Man” and “She-Hulk.” D’Onofrio’s character, Wilson Fisk, AKA Kingpin, has also returned to the MCU through the Disney+ original “Hawkeye,” and both Daredevil and Kingpin are set to play some sort of role in the upcoming MCU series “Echo.”
“Kevin Feige and [executive producer Louis D’] Esposito invited Charlie and I to do this again and do it in a way that we could have a blast,” D’Onofiro said, “so that’s what we’re doing.”
Whatever happens with the first season of “Daredevil: Born Again,” it’s clear that Disney has big plans for these two characters, and fans of the original “Daredevil” won’t want to miss this new series when it hits Disney+ in 2024.
