Nothing makes life easier than having proper tools for your kitchen. Whether it be a new set of pots and pans to cook with or a better way to organize your refrigerator and pantry, there are endless options available at our leisure when it comes to upgrading our kitchens. And if anyone has their customers covered in the home goods and kitchenware department, it’s most definitely the trusty folks over at Costco.
In the name of making all of your tasks in the kitchen a lot easier, Costco is now offering a giant butcher block cutting board for only $59.99. The Teak Haus Large Butcher Block was originally spotted at a local warehouse by Costco Hot Finds and measures in at a whopping 24 x 18-inches in size and 1 ½-inches thick. This heavy duty chopping block has convenient hand grips carved out of the two shorter ends and can handle almost anything you throw at it in terms of uses around the kitchen.

For the price, it can’t get much better than this, however, some customers were not so quick to jump on the bandwagon upon viewing Costco’s latest offering. “Teak is not good wood for knives,” one customer pointed out in response to the post shared to Instagram. “That’s why it’s cheap,” they continued, “looks nice, but not great for your blade.”
Another commenter shared their knowledge of quality cutting blocks, stating that “if it’s not end grain cherry, don’t buy it.”

Another customer chimed in to echo the sentiment, claiming that some commenters automatically made assumptions based on the price tag. The customer went on to mention how they saw the same cutting board on sale elsewhere for $109 with a free smaller board and oil, but would “gladly just take this Costco deal.”
As with anything that you plan on investing in, it’s important to do your research before making a big purchase. Luckily, this butcher block from Costco will not break the bank, so it wouldn’t be the end of the world if it didn’t perform exactly as you expected.
When it comes to teak wood, knife blades actually stay sharp for a long time when they’re used against it as a chopping block, as it is pretty gentle on the blade. Teak has a low tendency to warp and hardly ever cracks or splinters. However, there are a lot of fakes out there using cheaper quality wood and still calling it teak. So you can see where the concern lies when considering a product labeled as such, and why doing your research is absolutely necessary.
