The days surrounding Miami Art Week, which includes the cornerstone Art Basel Miami Beach, are some of the most exciting times to be in the city. Each year, art comes in different permutations, including that of high culinary, and from November 29 to December 2, some of the world’s and country’s top chefs will be hosting dinners at the Design District, in partnership with Resy and American Express.
Massimo Bottura of the three-Michelin-starred Osteria Francescana in Modena, Italy—awarded the No. 1 Restaurant in the World by the World’s 50 Best Restaurants in 2016 and 2018—will be headlining the event on November 29. James Beard award-winning chefs Missy Robbins of Lilia, Misi and Misipasta in New York, and Mashama Bailey from The Grey in Savannah and Diner Bar in Austin, will take over on December 1 and 2, respectively. Each of the dining experiences is priced at $350 per person, inclusive of the multi-course menu, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

The three days will be set in a gallery space with an exclusive-for-Basel installation by California-based contemporary artist Phillip K. Smith III, entitled “Garden of Reflections.” It is a series of reflective columnar sculptures that react to the immediate surroundings: the sun, clouds, treetops and architecture during the day, and the action of the dining experience at night. Smith last showed at Art Basel Miami 2017 with 120 Degree Arc East Southeast, a 500-foot-long reflective installation located on the beach in the Faena Arts District.
On November 30, there will be a full day Gallery viewing at the space, with food and drinks by James Beard award-winning chef Michael Solomonov of Zahav, Abe Fisher, Merkaz, Dizengoff, Goldie, Laser Wolf, Federal Donuts and K’Far in Philadelphia, and Laser Wolf in Brooklyn. Entry, food and drinks to this event are complimentary but reservations are necessary via Resy to enter.

“Our intention was to bring four very different style chefs from around the country, and world, to Miami and to give them a platform where their food and art comes together,” Hannah Kelly, Chief Marketing Officer at Resy, tells Forbes. “They are all award-winning, incredibly creative, and part of our Global Dining Access collection.” Kelly gives a sneak peek into the menus. “Guests will get a taste of Mashama Bailey’s foie and grits, Missy Robbins’ antipasti, Massimo Bottura’s ‘The Crunchy Part of the Lasagna,’ and more hit dishes. During the Gallery Day, there will be food and drinks all day, with the menu by Mike Solomonov changing as the day goes on. In the morning there will be bourekas, rugelach, mini challah Danishes. In the afternoon, latkes, short rib sandos, mushroom baklava, and more.”
This is the second year that American Express Platinum Card and Resy are taking part of Miami’s Art Week festivities. Last year, they held a Carbone pop-up diner at the Edition Hotel Miami Beach, “which sold out instantly!” Adds Kelly, “Seeing the demand for last year’s Carbone dinner, coupled with Miami being a fast-growing market for Resy (our restaurant footprint has grown four times since 2017), we set our sights on Art Basel 2022. The week’s worth of dining events that Resy is activating during Art Week showcases the breadth and caliber of Resy restaurants, the exclusive access our Global Dining Access program unlocks, and of course, how dynamic and exciting the Miami dining scene is.”
